The Great Barrier Reef has yielded yet another Grander Black Marlin. Capt. Sharky Miles on Levante caught an 1,111 lbs. Black Marlin on the Linden Bank

Capt. Ross Finlayson on Top Shot weighed a 1,111 lbs. Black Marlin for Stephanie Choate. The fish was caught on 50# tackle and is a pending Women’s World Record.

Blue Marlin Kona, Hawaii

Darien (age 14) and Clifford (10) are Capt. Ron Denis’ nephews. The marlin was attracted by a 100-lb tuna that they'd hooked on a bait and brought to their boat, the MOMI. The marlin circled the boat and they threw a rigged 4-lb tuna to it. The fish took the bait and the fight was on. Fight time was 11/2 hours.

Capt. Ray Kawahara and Walter Koyanagi were competing in the Kona Mauka Trollers Club Fishing Tournament on the LAHELA when they hooked their behemoth. The fish was caught after a 21/2-hour fight on 180-lb test line spooled on a Penn Senator 14/0 reel. It was the largest marlin caught during a Hawaii tournament up to this time.

Capt. Andy Anderson was hosting a charter for a tourist on the charter boat the LYNELL with a deckhand that he'd just picked up for the day when they struck their monster marlin. Andy conducted the four-hour fight from his position at the helm and after they returned to Kewalo Basin in Honolulu with the fish, they weighed it and cut it up. The weight has been reported at both 1112 and 1140 lbs.
