Capt. Marlin Parker of the MARLIN MAGIC was baiting with an aku a few miles outside of Honokohau Harbor when he hooked Roy Hudson to this enormous blue marlin. Roy battled the billed beast for three hours.

It has been over 40-Years since the Billfishing Community has seen a Black Marlin over 1,400 lbs. To call this fish special, would be an insult. This is the 2nd Largest Black Marlin to ever be weighed in Australia and the 3rd Largest ever in our sport. Team Too Easy II weighed a 1,431 lbs. Black Marlin. The boat was Captained by Russel Gage with Crewman Terry Parker and Elliot Mul. The Angler was Rob Crane, who fought the fish for over 2-Hours on 130# Tackle, fishing mostly full drag during the fight. The fish ate a “Gagey Super Plunger” made by the Captain. The fish had a 153” Short Measurement, 88” Girth Measurement and a 22.5” Tail Measurement.

Capt. Tom Rogers of the 41-foot Hatteras the KONA SEAFARI had Capt. Butch Kelly working the back deck as Cyril and Paul Burgoyne fought this 1450-lb marlin on 80-lb test. The Penn International reel was mated to a straight-butt Fenwick rod with oversized AFTCO guides. The leader was made of .035 wire and the hook was a 10/0 Mustad Sea Demon. The fight time was five hours and 20 minutes. The marlin ate a bridled aku (skipjack tuna) bait. The fish weighs 338 lbs more than the current (2003) IGFA world record for 80-lb test line.

Capt. Richard Silva of the WILD BUNCH discovered this monster blue nearly 20 miles off Kahana Bay on Oahu's Windward Coast. Gary Silva fought the fish for two hours before landing Kaneohe's largest marlin to that date.
