While trolling outside the town of Waianae on Oahu's leeward coast, a giant marlin attacked and ate two lures in the QUE-LARGO's spread. Capt. Gary Largo and his fishing partner Nasario Quemado Jr. battled the fish for three and a half hours before securing it boatside. When the fish was weighed, it bottomed-out the scales and its bill was still on the ground.

Blue Marlin Ascension Island

Team Harmattan which included Capt. Bryan Toney, Capt. Olaf Grimkowski, Capt. Chip Van Mols, Dan Holt and Angler Jada Holt weighed a 1,305 lbs. Blue Marlin. This is a Historic catch to say the least as this is the 4th Largest Blue Marlin ever weighed in the Atlantic and is a Pending Women’s 130 lbs. World Record. It took them 15 minutes to get her to the boat after she took a Moyes XL Pusherman. The fish has a 154” Short, 78” Girth and a 19.5 ” Tail. She was thick all the way through though with an 82” Girth at the anal fin. This was a Grander “Dream Team” of sorts with all three of these Captains having caught Granders in their careers. This is Capt. Olaf Grimkowski’s 2nd Blue Marlin over 1,300 lbs, having weighed a 1,320 also in Ascension Island, making him the only one to have done so. Lady Angler Jada Holt is the daughter of Capt. Chip Van Mols, both from Hawaii. This pair has been searching out records since Jada was a little girl with Jada already holding a Junior World Record. Now, Jada’s husband Dan Holt has joined the Team as they continue search out both Marlin and Tuna records.
