Blue Marlin Madeira

We have our 5th Grander of the Year and no surprise it came from Madeira. Within the last week, Capt. Gerard “Frothy” de Silva and Team Pesca Grossa have won the World Cup, released four (4) Blue Marlin over 500 lbs in a Day and now his 1st Grander as Captain. They measured the fish with a 141” Short and a 77” Girth (1,050 lbs) and then released her in good condition

Capt. Tim Richardson on Tradition released a 1,050 lbs. Black Marlin. This is Capt. Tim’s 3rd Grander Black Marlin of the 2014 Season. This is the 17th Grander Black Marlin reported to us from the Great Barrier Reef this season

We are still in September and the Great Barrier Reef has already produced the first Grander of the Season. Capt. Tim Richardson on Tradition put David McCallum on a 1,050 lbs. Black Marlin on the Linden Bank. Garrett Penley and Paco Vela were working the deck, with Paco getting the honors of wiring his first Grander.

Capt. Ian “Wobbles” Ford with deckie Ryan “Bobcat” O’Halloran went 3-4 on Black Marlin releasing a 500, 850 and 1,050! What a spectacular day. Pictures to come when the boys get back in.

Big Girl bite is back on and Capt. Dean Beech on Castille was right in the middle of it. Capt. Dean had one of the finest days he has had on the water, releasing a Double Grander as well as two other small fish. Castille released a 1,150 and 1,050 lbs Black Marlin. Castille was fishing on St Crispin’s Reef and went 3-8 on the day, releasing a 450 lbs Black Marlin as well

Blue Marlin Kona, Hawaii

Capt. Fumio Murasaki of the TRIXIE, a 17-foot skiff, was towing a live bait around the C-buoy when he hooked this grander. The fish was caught during the Kona Gold Jackpot but they were not entered so they missed out on a $30,000 jackpot.

Blue Marlin Oahu, Hawaii

This fish was hooked 10 miles outside of Mokumanu Island, Oahu. It took 31/2 hours to bring to gaff and was caught on a lure (popper) on 130-lb test Maxima line. The reel was a Penn Senator 14/0.
