Blue Marlin Viva’u, Tonga

Capt. Glenn Shaw on Morphius weighed a 1,065 lbs. Blue Marlin. The fish was caught by Angler Josh McIntyre on 80 lbs. test after a two hour battle. This is the largest Blue Marlin ever weighed in Tonga. The fish had 137” Length, 76” Girth and a 23” Tail Girth. Thanks to Steve Campbell for the Photo and Information.

Blue Marlin Kona, Hawaii

Mike Nesbitt and Drew Bradley were fishing on Drew's 22-foot Force, the SASHIMI KAI, and were on their way home from an overnight trip when they hooked their monster marlin between Miloli'i and Pebble Beach. The battle raged for three hours before they were able to secure the grander to the side of the boat and head for Honokohau Harbor in Kona. The fish was caught on a purple Softhead lure.

Capt. Jacques van Wyk, Marius Botha and Michael Fourie on Rough Rider weighed a 1,066 lbs. Blue Marlin. This is the 3rd Grander ever weighed in South African waters and all have been Blue Marlin.

Capt. Wayne Morgan of the PESCADOR, a 171/2-foot Alii Kai skiff, hooked this monster marlin on a 14/0 Penn Senator loaded with 150-lb test line and a Joe Yee Super Plunger. Sandy Haught spend 31/2 hours on the reel before the fish died and the next two hours were spent planing it to the surface. A pack of sharks followed them back to the harbor and were appeased by the crew’s throwing saba to the hungry mob.
