Grand Canary – While fishing the Puerto Rico Grand Canary Tournament, the boys on the IBO scored a big surprise. Fishing in less than 150′ feet of water, the crew was surprised when the largest fish of their lives grabbed one one of the smallest lures in the spread. Fishing had been slow in the tournament, with this fish being the biggest highlight. Angler was Valentin Guzman Navarro Garcias. Fish was estimated at over 1,000 lbs with some estimates as large as 1,100 lbs.
We would also like to point out that even though this was a tournament winning fish, the decision by captain and crew to released this fish is commendable.
