Kona, HI – 1st Grander of the Year

Grander Blue for Capt. Chip Van Mols

Kona, HI – Finally! We have our first Grander Marlin in the world and no shock, it came from Kona.

Capt. Chip Van Mols has done it again. Chip weighed a 1,062 lbs Blue Marlin. This is the 2nd Grander for Chip, having landed one in 2010. Maybe more impressive is Chip had been predicting a Grander ¬†within a “few days” and as Chip would say, “any minute now”, I guess now was the time.

Fish was caught on an Aloha Smash bait. If I remember correctly he usually runs it on his left short. Caught on the 200 Fathom line.
